Nancy Lim-Yee

Community Engagement Fund

The Portsmouth Plaza Parking Corporation is a non-profit entity that was formed to promote business and to support the merchants in Chinatown.  As part of our ongoing efforts to encourage activities that benefit the residents and merchants in the SF Chinatown/North Beach area, the Portsmouth Plaza Parking Corporation established a Community Participation Fund in 2002.  The Nancy Lim-Yee Community Engagement Fund gives priority to programs and services that benefit the community within the San Francisco Chinatown boundary.  Currently, the funding amount varies depending on the project’s needs, but the maximum amount for each request shall not exceed $2,500.  Each group or organization shall be granted one request per fiscal year (July 1 to June 30).

We accept requests from 50l(c)(3) organizations and other not-for-profit groups.  Our funding priorities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Arts, Culture, Music

  • Children & Youth

  • Education

  • Health

  • Public Safety

  • Seniors

  • Sports

If your project addresses one of the above funding priorities, please submit a one-to-two page letter of request, on your organization letterhead, that describes your project. The letter should provide a description of your intended project, the target population, and should explain the project’s objectives, how the project benefits the Chinatown community, and the funding needs. Please also include the type or types of exposure that your event will make available to Portsmouth Plaza Parking Corporation (i.e. logo in poster, acknowledgement in program book or annual report, etc.). Members of the Nancy Lim-Yee Community Engagement Committee of the Portsmouth Plaza Parking Corporation will review all request letters and will make a recommendation to the full Board at its next meeting.

Please email your request letter to the Chair Rose Chung at roseychung@gmail.com.
